Offering chamber C 1

The name of this room is the offering chamber. Its location is the same in all large temples of this period: on the main temple axis two rooms before the sanctuary.

The most noticeable elements of its decoration are the four scenes with the bull-headed gods of the offering altar, two of which are quite well preserved. On the north wall there is a representation of the local child god Kolanthes in a naos which probably stood before the wall.

In the east, there is a door leading to a complex of three rooms. In the first one is an additional door leading to a straight staircase to the temple roof. On both the east and the west sides are small side entrances through which the offerings were brought into the temple by the priests.

The large and also very heavy door of the pronaos along the main axis of the temple was only opened on special festival occasions.
