Treasury E 5

This room is the treasury. It contains the entrance to a crypt, a subterranean complex of several rooms that were secured by special blocking systems. This is where cult objects and statues of precious stones and metals like gold and silver were stored. In contrast to Dendara and a few other temples the crypts of Athribis were not decorated with reliefs or inscriptions.

In the base (soubassement) are a row of figures leaded by the king who all bear the hieroglyph of a mountain on their head. This identifies them as representatives of several, mostly foreign mining regions, the source of the minerals and metals stored in this room or in the crypts.

On the west wall the king is offering two small bags of eye-paint to the temple god Min-Ra. Behind him is his characteristic round hut.
